The Joyful Cry (a Song of Visitation)

How has
this Wonder
come to be,
that my Lord’s Mother
visits me;

In softness
of night’s
making way
to birth the newness
of This Day;

With pillow
still beneath
my head,
Her courage lifts me
from my bed;

Her Love
calls me to
seek to serve
Her Son with faith
that will not swerve.

How has
this Wonder
come to be,
that my Lord’s Mother
visits me;

In Every Friend
with kindly face,
She greets me
with Her Warmth
and Grace;

Within the bluebird’s
rosy breast,
She bears
the Word;
I call Her Blessed;

My soul with Hers
doth magnify;
Her Voice
in mine
The Joyful Cry!

How has
this Wonder
come to be,
that my Lord’s Mother
visits me?
